On this day in 1900 Hariclea Darclée added Tosca to a repertoire which also included Gilda in Rigoletto, Ophélie in Hamlet, Valentine in Les Huguenots, Violetta in La traviata, Desdemona in Otello, Mimì in La boheme, Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana, Elisabeth in Tannhäuser, and the title roles in Manon, Manon Lescaut, Aida, and Carmen.

On this day in 1900 Puccini’s Tosca premiered in Rome.
