It’s time for celebrations! This past February marked the bicentennial of the premiere of Il barbiere di Siviglia, and I am happy to offer you a 1960 Covent Garden performance with a most remarkable ensemble cast. 

We will hear Teresa Berganza, whose 81st birthday we celebrate on Wednesday; Luigi Alva, whose 89th birthday we celebrate on 10 April; Rolando Panerai, still with us at 91; Fernando Corena, whose centennial we celebrate this year; Josephine Veasey, still with us at 85; and Ivo Vinco. Carlo Maria Giulini conducts. “Pace, pace, gioia, gioia!”
