Opera from a certain point of view. The best opera magazine on the web. Reviews, breaking news, critical essays, and brainrot commentary on opera from those demented enough to love it.
La Cieca is delighted to announce that her old, old, old friend Eli Jacobson (pictured, right) has ascended to a position of leadership in the Gay Men’s Opera Club in what one assumes was a relatively bloodless coup.
Howsomever, the group will meet this very evening for a “Potpourri Program” from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the LGBT Community Center (Room 410), 208 West 13th Street, mere steps from Manhattan’s trendy “Meatpacking District.”
Eli decrees that participants in this shindig should bring a five minute (or less!) selection from an opera that is being performed in the New York area in the upcoming season. A contribution of $6.00 will be collected to defray room rental and refreshment costs. Refreshments (and, almost certainly, shade) will be served during intermission.
