Noch mein’ ich mir selber so sicher zu sein

Elina Garanča’s aborted first Ariadne may have been the headline item at the Salzburg Festival next month, but this week Parterre Box features the Zerbinetta, Ziyi Dai.

The 29-year-old Chinese soprano Ziyi Dai, who was trained both in Beijing and in the United States, joined the Zurich Opera studio in 2020 where she sang roles like Comtesse Adele in Le comte Ory and Zerlina.

With performances in Prague, Zurich, Rome, and soon in Salzburg, Zerbinetta has become a signature role for her. Today’s Grand Tier Grab Bag features her in this very part in a performance recorded in Rome in March.
