Take it or Liv it

The opening of the Santa Fe Opera’s season is the perfect occasion to highlight its Susanna, American soprano Liv Redpath

Bronwen Sharp/For The Santa Fe Opera

Redpath, who was an Apprentice at Santa Fe in 2017 and returned in subsequent seasons as Zerbinetta, Zerlina, and Sophie, has quickly made a name for herself singing everything from Monteverdi to George Benjamin. Today’s clip features Redpath as Lucia, a role she has sung in Hamburg, London, and Los Angeles, where she trained as a young artist.

The rigorously credentialed soprano (Harvard and Juilliard) will perform various roles in L’enfant et les sortilèges with the San Diego Symphony in October following concert work in the United States and Europe. And next summer brings another high-profile and high-lying assignment: Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail at Glyndebourne.
