Tonight’s Don Giovanni is the German-Romanian baritone’s most significant opera assignment to date. Krimmel’s career has heretofore been much more focused on the concert stage, including a recital in New York this spring that got a rave here at the box.

June and July see Krimmel in Munich for a stretch of Mozart before he returns to concertizing until performances as Dr. Falke in a New Years run of Die Fledermaus back in Munich. He will persist as a scarce quantity on the opera stage in 2026 when, according to Operabase, he is currently scheduled for only three roles: Don Giovanni, Figaro, and Dandini in La Cenerentola.

Those curious to hear how this rare, Lieder-focused singer fares in a leading role are exhorted to listen and opine in real-time this afternoon during our broadcast chat.
