Ailyn PerezSoprano Ailyn Pérez has been named the recipient of the 11th annual Beverly Sills Artist Award for young singers at the Metropolitan Opera. The $50,000 award, the largest of its kind in the United States, is designated for “extraordinarily gifted singers between the ages of 25 and 40 who have already appeared in featured solo roles at the Met,” according to the Met’ press office.  Read more »

UPDATE: A sleep-deprived La Cieca and DeCaffarrelli unanimously hail has reviewed the results once more and, in a revised ruling, declares a tie between Trubadur (pictured) and Giasone at 27 all as winners of the “Ladies in the Dark” vocal ID competition. Read more »
