In a move strongly suggestive that nobody at the Met can remember back as far as 2009-2010, James Levine has quietly been slotted into the spring reprise of the Met’s new Tosca, replacing Bertrand de Billy who is planning to be sick or something. Anyway, Levine is now “leading” the performances of April 21 – May 12, and La Cieca will give you exactly one guess what’s going to be the next shoe to drop.

Have Levine and Trebs ever worked on anything together?

    • La Cieca

      Five performances of Contes d’Hoffmann
      Nine performances of Don Pasquale
Concert at Carnegie Hall (Netrebko jumped in for Elina Garanca)
“Un bel di” at Met 50th Anniversary gala

Is it too late to cancel David McVicar?

    • Kenneth Conway

It is never to late to cancel David McVicar.

  • Satisfied

I mean, I guess if a shoe were to drop, it would be Anna, but this is her only Met performance this season and she hasn’t NOT appeared
at the Met each season for well over a decade now. That, and (Norma aside), she’s easily one of the most reliable singers currently performing.

Which is all to say I really really don’t want her to drop out of the run ????

As much as I love him, I’ll trade you an Anna for a Bryn.

The shoe I’d expect to drop is Marcelo Alvarez, who has been canceling left and right lately. Turandot at the Met, Il Trovatore in Vienna, Andrea Chenier in Buenos Aires.

    • Satisfied

I can deal with this too….

    • Yeah, no big loss if Alvarez cancels.

Sonya Yoncheva saying “too early for Tosca”?

  • Degan

I guess Nebs decided not to sing Tosca…

    • Antikitschychick

I really hope it’s not that. But I guess we shall see soon enough.
