    Greetings from Finland.
I had an unexpected visit to Helsinki an realized, that there was a Parsifal concertante in a town quite close by…
Mattila sang her first Kundry and negotiated her forces very smartly… Even if her calling Parsifal was not the most sensual, she let it rip towards the end of act 2… it was stunning… she is in a great shape right now to sing this kind of rep. Run for her Sieglinde in SF.
Klaus Florian Vogt heard live is much more pleasing than on the radio.. the voice is quite big and there’s charisma.
Matti Salminen was also in the cast… well done Turku music festival!

Mattila did a concertante Siegelinde in Helsinki last year. There’s a general feeling here that Kundry is a better fit for her.

Thank you for reporting on Mattila’s Kundry, ines -- I had been wondering how it was. I hope this role now enters her regular repertoire and we get other chances to hear it.

She seems to “test” her upcoming stage repertoire in concertante versions first.
