        • Elza Von Barabant

Ill courtesy and walk away now

  • DellaCasaFan

Odd programming. NO Richard Strauss in 6 hours!
Performances were variable, but the best part was hanging on Parterre. Thanks for good comments and laughter. Good night to all!

    • Liz.S

      I wanted more Wagner

    • Cathy Barbash

Indeed the best part. I stopped by midway first half to see about getting in at intermission, listened/watched lobby screens while on Parterre and decided that sitting in the opera house would not add anything….

  • Ivy Lin

No Wagner except for the Tannhauser march either :(

    • DellaCasaFan

      Yup. Odd…

  • Southern Gal

meh what a mixed bag of rep. surprised at the Levine section -- NO Strauss? really ? if there had been a theme? oh well .

  • Liz.S

    No bis?

    • Elza Von Barabant

not even make our garden grow

    • Elza Von Barabant

      • ER

yup but she was on the schedule (also I think the houston ring is now over)

        • Elza Von Barabant

I think they had the final one tonight or today. It’s Gotterdammerung so it was BOTH today and tonight

        • Southern Gal

          this afternoon final GOTTERDAMMERUNG.

  • Camille

    Tomorrow: TOSCA!
    Live from Vienna!

    • Southern Gal

      Georghiu is out!

      from SLIPPED DISC Website
The Vienna State Opera have announced that Angela Gheorghiu is sick for tomorrow night’s live-streamed Tosca.

She will be replaced by Martina Serafin, an Austrian stalwart.

  • Southern Gal

  • Antikitschychick

Arghh I unfortunately had to miss this gala because of my final exam tomorrow but will will listen to a recording as soon as I can. It’s nice to see so many comments! I hope you all enjoyed the performances :-).

  • Jonathan Moots

Could someone post a pic of the program? Curious…

    • Rowna Sutin

If you are on FB there are posts/photos -- by E. Cristine O’Keefe in the Met HD page

Anyone else last night (or listening on the radio) leave thinking it was about time for the the Met to bring back Porgy and Bess. Pretty Yende would just be amazing…..

    • Porgy Amor

Opening night 2019-20, if word is to be believed, and Owens has been penciled in as Porgy for a while. Nothing on Future Wiki about the rest of the cast.

      • I think it’s more than pencilled in. In the gala program, there was an asterix next to his name which apparently denotes a future role at the Met.

      • Liz.S

I was not too excited by Owen’s sneak-preview last night but am hoping now they are asterixing in Moore -- whom we really didn’t get enough of yesterday

      Thank you, Ivy

    • DonCarloFanatic

Thanks, Ivy. My Met Live Stream experience became bizarre in the second part--the stream stuttered and then a long section repeated, twice. I switched to Sirius live, but this will give me a chance to hear what I missed.

    • Rick

      Thanks, Ivy, much appreciated!

    • CwbyLA

Thank you Ivy. Do you know if there is a way to download this?

  • Southern Gal

Programme is at http://www.operasonsirius.com... under Special events

  • rhinestonecowgirl

Thanks to Jungfer for posting that centennial gala programme which I can’t retrieve in this marathon thread.
Of those who actually sang then it appears that only Mariella Devia and (just) Carreras are still singing. Wonder if Devia was invited this time. She is really still in quite remarkable voice and this would have been a great opportunity for her to return to the Met. And Domingo seems to have missed that one. Was he indisposed?
