  • In honor of the Bill O’Reilly firing, let’s look back to this oratorio excerpt from 10 years ago in Seattle. “Mackris v O’Reilly” is described as a “baroque” oratorio with a libretto of verbatim excerpts from the transcript of the sexual harrassment complaint against Bill O’Reilly in 2004.

    Based on this excerpt, I would say that it is a bit of a stretch to describe Igor Keller’s work here as “baroque,” except for the trumpet flares and some elements of the orchestration. I’m afraid the vocal line does not offer much of musical interest, though baritone Charles Robert Stephens does his best with the unedifying material.
