  • Camille

    Love U Carlo!

  • Cameron Kelsall

That was a masterful “Nemico della patria”. Making plans to catch one of Salsi’s di Lunas at the Met next season.

  • Luca Salsi was wonderful in “Nemico della patria.”

  • Armerjacquino

Hurray! Just back from work and have switched on literally as ‘La Mamma Morta’ begins…

    • Armerjacquino

Wow! All those long lines in one breath…

      • grimoaldo2

        Beautiful! Very moving.

      • Liz.S

        Sighs… ?

  • manou

I hear Sondra Rad sing Mamma Morta last Thursday -- her first London recital. Quite an evening.

    • grimoaldo2

Would like to hear her in this part also.

      • Cameron Kelsall

Has she ever done the full role? The aria has been part of her concert rep for years.

        • manou

She is doing it at the Liceo soon -- and it is rumoured also at the ROH.

          • Cameron Kelsall

With Kaufmann and Carlos Alvarez…and Anna Tomowa-Sintow as Madelon! Oh my!

            • manou

Might be worth a trip to Barcelona then.

  • Camille

Seems very strange she did not get up from her chair. at some point oops until now. Humm

    • grimoaldo2

      I was thinking that too.

  • Rowna Sutin

    Greetings all.

  • Rowna Sutin

totally late but at least i get the final duet . . . life gets in the way, once again of enjoying opera!

  • This is an overall wonderful performance. Can’t understand why it was booed last week.

    • grimoaldo2

It was the production team that was booed, apparently, not the singers or conductor.

    • ipomoea

      watch til the very end…

      • I saw the very end. What were they booing? The beheading?

        • Liz.S

Prob the visual “noisiness” that some were talking about.
It was a bit too distracting for me at the last duet

        • ipomoea

apparently did not please all the first night…

  • Armerjacquino

    My husband as Harteros:

‘i ASKED YOU TO WEIGHT THIS GATE DURING THE TECH IT’S STILL SWINGING SHUT!’

    • Armerjacquino

Me: ‘Baby, she probably wasn’t at the tech’

    • MissShelved

      That was very distracting.

  • Rowna Sutin

I have no idea how they sing this full out on their knees!

  • Liz.S

This duet doesn’t call for other things going on in the diff rooms in the doll house

  • Armerjacquino

Both great here- two people thinking about how they’re about to die, not wallowing in 19thc sexanddeath.

    • Armerjacquino

Beautifully lit, too: they’re already ghosts.

  • i hope this gets released commercially …

    • Rowna Sutin

      Agree

  • Rowna Sutin

    WOWOWOWOW!!!!!!

  • Camille

OMG they cut Jonas head off. O nooooo!!!

  • Batty Masetto

    Santa patata what an ending!

  • Camille

    Coup de têteâtre!!!

    • Rowna Sutin

      JA!

  • grimoaldo2

Fantastic performance, very moving, not just “listen to me belt out high notes” as some of those old performances of this opera were

  • Rowna Sutin

    Never heard of this conductor.

    • ER

me neither…but he did a good job.
What a great afternoon it was.
