As Jonas topped the charts, readers may be interested to learn that he will sing live in the studio today for BBC Radio 3’s In Tune programme which starts at 4.30 pm in London (11.30 EST, I believe).

    • Lohengrin

      Which Radio Show?

      • armerjacquino

I’m going to make a wild guess that it’s In Tune, on Radio 3 at 4.30z

        • armerjacquino

          Random ‘z’ alert.

    • Lohengrin

BBC 3 In Tune has started, but NOTHING about or with Jonas. Baltsamic Vinaigrette: where did You catch the information from?

      • Gualtier M

I seriously think that if Jonas even sang on the radio the Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall and the presenters in Pasadena or wherever would have cause to contact their lawyers. If he is ill -- and I think he is -- he needs to remain out of action until his contracts with those institutions are over -- mid March. Or else the unions and the Metropolitan Opera’s lawyers will be contacting him or his management. Strange though that his illness is so severe that he doctors predict it will last for six weeks.

        • Lohengrin

I did not expect hearing him sing at BBC 3, but something talking (by phone) about his big success with Nessun Dorma, but nothing is announced.
The “duration” of his illness seems to depend on the lenght of the Manon Lescaut run. Hopefully he will be fine much earlier, but Roberto has taken over the whole Des Grieux. So Jonas may have time for real relaxing and privacy. Nevertheless it would be reassuring to hear whats on with him.

I’m going to take a wild guess that he heard about it on Sarah Walker’s morning show today.

Jeez, talk about no good deed going unpunished.

        • Baltsamic Vinaigrette

I did, thanks aj! Just back at base to learn from Lohengrin that he didn’t sing live after all.

Lohengrin, please rest assured that I didn’t fall for “KJ will be live on In Tune…”. Singing was referenced, which surprised me -- I am inclined to agree with Gualtier M on this one. I hope they made it clear at the opening of the show that he would be talking down the phone and no more than that. Even so, there would surely be keen interest to hear if they asked him about his illness.

          • Lohengrin

The whole thing is very strage. I had to stop listening 15 minutes befor the end (must leave the house for something). Do not know what happened then, but before: no mentioning JK……….

  • Lohengrin

I could not find a hint on Jonas…………..

    • armerjacquino

It’s literally in the original post.

      • Lohengrin

Yes, but on the website of BBC 3 Radio/In Tune there is nothing about Jonas…………..

        • Baltsamic Vinaigrette

They tend not to go into detail. Very often a performer’s availability will not even be known to the production team until very close to the day of transmission. So I would expect to find nothing about JK’s eminent presence, in fact I only heard of it on Sarah Walker’s morning show today.

Further, there is no saying what time he will drop by -- a real teaser to make sure you tune in from the outset. I will have to rely on catch-up unless he gets there late on as I am otherwise detained. BTW to be clear, the whole show will certainly not be about him, I would guesstimate 15-30 minutes, tops.

          • Lohengrin

OK, I will listen to the transmission patiently. Thank You.

By the way: Santa Monica rezital is also cancelled.

  • Feldmarschallin

Yes Santa Monica which is right up there with Wigmore Hall and the like. That was a given.

    • Lohengrin

I wondered why it was not cancelled at the same time as NY. Would have been a nice trip inbetween the ML-perforamces.

      • Feldmarschallin

5 hour flight each way. Then you are only talking about flying time.

And then the traffic from LAX to Casa del Mar !
