One night only, one night only, there’s nothing more to say

The Art House in Provincetown, MA, headed by Mark Cortale, will present Metropolitan Opera Star Deborah Voigt in ‘Voigt Lessons’ created by Terrence McNally, Francesca Zambello and Deborah Voigt, for one night only on August 2 at 6:30 PM.

  • Methinks they have overestimated the audience for a show like Voigt Lessons in our little hamlet by the sea. Think queens. Sun!
    So far this year I’ve seen Jennifer Holliday, Bernadette Peters, we have audra coming up as well as Norm Lewis.

    I saw her show in NYC recently and enjoyed it. A very revealing narrative, mixed with pop songs, Brahms, Strauss, etc. It was utterly different from what I, and I think most of the audience, had expected.

  • Would have gone with an edgier title, myself. Something like: “Voigt, Where Prohibited By Law.”

  • Gall and wormwood.

    The primadonna and the fly

    • Quanto Painy Fakor

      I love this! Especially the way she sings “suprême”.

  • Camille

    Miss Effie deserved her Oscar.

    And this deserves an award, too, but not quite sure what.

  • Sorry to be so far off-topic, but R.I.P. Theodore Bikel — star of stage, screen and recordings. Lest we forget one of his most iconic film roles ever:

  • Krunoslav

    Not so far OT;

    According to a website bio:

    ‘Mr. Bikel has also appeared in opera productions: La Gazza Ladra, Philadelphia Opera Company (1989); The Abduction from the Seraglio, Cleveland Opera Company (1992), Ariadne auf Naxos, Los Angeles Opera Company (1992), and Die Fledermaus, Yale Opera Company (1998).’

    anyone witness any of these?

    Tangetially related to the heading: Sometimes Twitter is very funny: go to and look up #DrunkOpera. The Germans are really into it. Lucia di Lambrusco is just a beginning.
