Swedish actress Noomi Rapace has been named as star of a film biography of Maria Callas to be directed by Niki Caro, reports Variety.

Rapace is best known for playing the title role in the original Swedish film of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. La Cieca warns, though, that perhaps you shouldn’t start queueing for tickets quite yet: this project was previously announced (with Eva Green as the mythic diva) as long ago as 2010.
