Loo! Here the Gentle Lark

“First night is three weeks away which suggests the theatre is ready. It isn’t. But it is no less ready than it ever is; I just don’t ever stop being anxious about it. One of the best canary songs ever (Bishop’s ‘Lo! Hear the Gentle Lark’) forever ruined. Thanks a bunch.

      Come now, let us rejoice!
Compare and contrast these duelling divas

Why thank you for posting these gems, Camille. My first ever hearing of this tune was from an old 78 shellac disk featuring Amelita Galli-Curci which I thought was perfection. (still do) I bet Kathy Battle sings it nicely, too. Never really been a Joanie fan- though her diction is quite good on this clip.

couldn’t resist- no one seemed to want to comment on this thread. Can’t blame them really- this shitty production of Ballo should be forgotten. Echt Regiedreck.
