Mary’s third law of motion

“I have never driven a car because it always seemed to me a tax on one’s nervous system, and my only time for driving was when I was trying to store, rather than expend, energy.”

One wonders if that last quote didn’t assure Mary of complimentary Pierce-Arrow motor cars at intervals for the rest of her life.

For sure, Will. That’s what it’s all about, and
maybe a nice check to boot.
But don’t you recall when Bartoli was chauffeured from
NYC to Chi in a white Rolls “because I don’t like to fly!” I wonder what little Cici got for that endorsement? Remarkably, there were photographers
and newsmen all along the way. Where did she spend
      the night? Toledo? South Bend?
      Ah, them wuz the days.

  • Cicciabella says:

Good to know that artist sponsorship deals precede our cynical, consumerist times.

  • Baltsamic Vinaigrette says:

“I drive a Rolls-Royce/ ’cause it’s good for my voice”

Additional notes: not only did Marc Bolan not drive, he died as a passenger in his girlfriend’s car; on the same day as Maria Callas, too (16 September 1977, as if you needed telling).

  • Cicciabella says:

Endorsing a mode of transport is very smart. By representing the local airline Calleja gets to travel to his European gigs for free: http://tinyurl.com/nrvpyp8. Beats gallons of aftershave lotion.
