La Cieca hears that Anna Netrebko will sing her first Norma at Covent Garden in 2016. Reportedly she told a fan backstage after Anna Bolena on Saturday that she has already signed a contract for the role. A spokesperson for the soprano told parterre.com, “I’m not at liberty to confirm whether Anna is contracted to sing Norma at Covent Garden in 2016, but I can tell you that she’s been considering taking on the role at some point in the future.” La Cieca will take that as a “yes.”

Very well then and thank you very much. Will there be just one dvd of this Norma or eventually three? Might Jose Cura make a good swan-knight partner for her in Dresden in 2015 or should we hand that part to Vladimir Galuzin instead? I’ve already crystal-balled it in a way -- except I might have predicted that the Met might be first to see her Norma.

Let me think for a moment. I reckon that a Kundry or two should also be in the cards before long -- wthin five years then Kostelnestra, Klytaemnicka and by time decade is out Baba the Turk. Narrations of Peter and the Wolf in 2020 -- yeah, that for sure! Go Anna!

Trebs’ Norma will be the biggest “hit” of the 21st century. Do not have one doubt about that.
