Considering that a certain board member of NYCO (let’s call her Mary Sharp Cronson) put up a lot of money when she was advocating for Mr. Steel to take over the company, it should come as no surprise that the Guggenheim, home of Works and Process (what a coincidence – run and funded significantly by Mary Sharp Cronson) is likely to be part of the new venue strategy for NYCO.

Now, we could wait until July 12th to shred their season to pieces but a more fun excercise could be to predict their season announcement and tear it up now! We already know that Steel is an idiot and everything he touches turns to shit. So why wait?

How interesting. What on earth could they produce at the Guggenheim? It doesn’t seem as if the space would lend itself to a staging of any sort. It would need to be truly modern (or at least a relatively modern piece) to work in that kind of space. I don’t know how it would be acoustically either, some of you probably do though. Philip Glass? Messiaen? Wainright? Or are they going the other route and intend to stage something baroque (rare and/or unknown)? There are certainly possibilities, but it just seems like an odd sort of stunt if they really do use that space as a performance venue.

Then again, standing at the top of it looking down, one does seem to be looking over the edge of a vast toilet bowl, so maybe it is apropo after all…

The video above: Some people on this earth have far too much time on their hands.

Cara La Cieca, have you been invited to attend next Tuesday?

Did anyone here manage to catch the YouTube video with George Steel that NYCO uploaded, then yanked about 5 minutes later? I foolishly chose to prioritize work over watching it the instant I saw the link on Twitter. *sigh*
