I watched it twice through. I didn’t see any genitalia. I guess there isn’t much going on. Hot bod in a Daddy sort of way though.

OT: Back from Bartered Bride. Loved every minute of it. The Juilliard orchestra sounded amazing under levine (apart from a *few* flubs), and the singers delivered heartfelt, confident performances. Layla Claire stood out in particular as a voice to watch out for. The choreography was at times perplexing but the act 3 circus scene was an absolute riot….i won’t spoil it for anyone. Speaking of choreography, a pregnant natalie portman was in attendance with her baby daddy.

I was unfamiliar with this opera apart from the overture and though it is long, not a moment felt like it dragged, probably thanks to the high quality of the performances. These young singers took such joy in their singing, and I really hope the Lindemann Young Artists get more chances to do fully staged productions on a regular basis. It was really one of the most delightful nights i’ve spent at the opera this season, and i highly recommend it to anyone who can get his hands on a ticket (good luck!!). Having seen the bulk of my live opera performances in the cavernous Met, it was a revelation to be able to see and hear such a great performance in an intimate setting.

scifisci, indeed Layla Claire was simply SENSATIONAL, what a glorious voice, and she is indeed a complete package, as the musicality and phrasing were miraculous, and a great actress. But everyone else was pretty stunning, what a great bunch all around! and of course Levine drew some spectacular playing from that orchestra. What a great night indeed! Not to be missed!
