debiasioSays the Met press office: “Roberto De Biasio will make his Met debut as Gabriele Adorno in the Thursday, January 20 opening performance of Simon Boccanegra, replacing Ramón Vargas, who is ill. Mr. Vargas is scheduled to sing the remainder of the performances.”

    I saw Roberto in the same opera in Montreal last March, and he was very good, beautiful voice, strong enough, no problems whatsoever with the tessitura, and moreover looked the part ! He’s also a very gracious person. Great to hear he made to the Met !
