Actually, this report might be a bit more accurate.

Will there be a chat tomorrow night for the Opening Night? Available on the Met Web site and on Sirius?

  • hndymn says:

is there any chance that our doyenne will be posting (as she did last year) her most helpful and reliable list of all the Met broadcasts for the season, both Sirius and NPR? I referred to it often last season, and it makes it a lot easier to plan ahead. If it’s been posted and I missed it, point me in the right direction, please? Many thanks…

  • La Cieca says:

Not from your doyenne, but from the talented and personable E. J. Michel, here’s a link to a Google calendar of complete live Met Sirius/XM broadcasts for the 2010-2011 season:

    • Cieca carissima:

How do we know which ones are the free sirius bcasts? Last years when you published the list, the free surius bcasts were bold. is that information available in the met website?

    • hndymn says:

      thank you, La C!

    • IrmgardFreund says:

Thanks La C and to EJ Michel for the listings. We hope the casts for each will be available soon. Here in Newport, Oregon, we are settling in for yet another Rheingold. Hard to get Hotter and Neidlinger out of one’s mind. Oh Oh, am I sounding like the Vicar?

If Peter Gelb is a Fucking God of Thunder can he do something about the rain that is predicted until this evening? I want to see the simulcast of “Das Rheingold” in Times Square but it looks like it is rained out! I was planning to go with friends. Will the Met cancel it if the weather is really bad?

    • brooklynpunk says:

YUP… the MET has announced that due to weather conditions, to check with them to see if the outdoor simulcasts will go on as scheduled…but it don’t look hopeful…; (….

      • papopera says:

Why not telecast in the rain ? Whats the difference? Umbrellas do exist. Or, move all the screens to us 350m north to Montréal where we have perfect autumn sunny weather @ 18° C.

        Pleasant Rheingold to all….very exciting.

    • La Cieca says:

“Tonight’s simulcast will go on RAIN OR SHINE! So grab a poncho and come on out to Times Square!” @MetOpera

      • m. p. arazza says:

Why only “Times Square”? They forgot about the Plaza and the gazillions who queued up for the free tickets yesterday?

    • quoth the maven says:

A ticker on the Met’s website said the simulcast “will proceed as scheduled.”

  • brooklynpunk says:

I wonder if they can do the Plaza, in the rain….all those electonic Speakers getting wet….wouldnt that be rather dangerous???

    • m. p. arazza says:

Oh- now the website says “Tonight’s Times Square and Lincoln Center simulcasts will proceed as scheduled” (yet adds: “Check back for updates!”)
