Oh, please! We all know that’s Renee doing a wardrobe and wig test for that new role she’s going to do at the MET in 2015.

  • Quanto Painy Fakor says:

Who would have thought that they would recycle the Mary Zimmerman spiders for this expensive new production.

  • MontyNostry says:

I think digital imagery is a great idea for suitable operatic moments, but that looks like something from Monty Python. Not exactly state-of-the-(high) art …

  • Bluessweet says:

I think this is great stuff! Intellectual ditz-brain and students in an imitation of a Garland-Rooney “let’s have a show” moment from every film they ever did together. Using $2.98 cents worth of old sheets from Goodwill and a video projector that can be used over and over by the Fine Arts department of any high school, they have “explored” the heights of artistic inovation.

The problem comes in when we get a $23 million dollar production that has no more artistic merit. The Philly opera company could probably get almost three seasons out that kind of dough and produce standard versions of good operas that have not been seen by the locals in forty years.

    • whatever says:

i’m in AWE that you already know a performance which doesn’t even open for another four weeks will lack artistic merit. can i have tomorrow’s winning lottery numbers while you’re on a roll???

  • bigbob56 says:

Oh where is Anna Russell when we need her.

  • tannengrin says:

I KNEW it would be ground breaking! The Rhinemaidens as fiery redheads! Who’d have thunk it!! And he’s using the new Sopranobot! All three voices from one machine! Ah, Lepage, mon amour!

He’s giving a talk, organized by the Wagner Society, at the Alvin Ailey Center on 9/15 – I’m sure he’ll explain it all then

  • Harry says:

True big bob 56 ! And we need Ed Wood to be the director.

Call me crazy, but I liked her singing.
