Waiter, there’s a fly in my Regie

schweigsame_thumbWho better than Straussmonster to speak up at just the right time to identify Die Schweigsame Frau, a Barrie Kosky production at the Münchner Opernfestspiele. The “Walküre” in question is Aminta, in the person of the gallant and gravid Diana Damrau.

Following the jump, the ADD-rific trailer for the show, and then this week’s challenge.

And now, a presentation of the Entomological-Hysteric Theater:

It’s BORIS GODUNOV [with the participation of Herr Neuenfels??]:

    I. Boris accedes to the throne of Russia (is he meant to be a rat or a spider, or both?)

II. Polish Act. The plot to invade Russia takes wing as Marina (in the pink) lays her power trip on Dmitri the Pretender (in the black leather), Cardinal Rangoni prompts (in the drone get-up).

III. Finale in Kromy Forest. Altanex aerosol [German Raid (?)] annihilates the crowd — peasants and boyars alike. Proving that, plus ca change, plus c’est la meme chose, en Russie….

    Cosi?

I know this can’t be right since it’s a Regie quiz after all.
But it looks as though it SHOULD be Midsummer Night’s Dream by Britten, or possibly Falstaff. If this were either, the set could be appropriate, so I’m pretty sure that they’re both wrong.

    L’Enfant et les sortileges?

This could be Don Giovanni in the Underbrush:

    1 the man himself
2 somewhere in the 2nd act
3 finale, act 1, the man makes his escape

Or, it’s an out-taymored Flute, with the Queen in pic 3 really doing her Hoelle/Rache thing

The wings suggest a funny opera -
    finale of Barbiere?

    Or Cenerentola?
