Ferry tale

oceansThirteenOne of parterre box’s oldest friends and earliest admirers, Der Schmuck der Madonna, emerges from his regal exile momentarily to plug what sounds like a memorable way to spend part of Memorial Day weekend:

I’m assisting iconic queer composer David Del Tredici and this amazing coloratura Courtenay Budd in a concert of two big song cycles this Saturday, May 29 at Bargemusic at 8:00 pm. One perv. only! These two are seriously astounding performers of these great recent queer works that deserve to be better known. Strict dress code: leather / fetish gear (no cologne). I hope to see you Saturday on the barge.

Dear Schmuck – who might that be? How does Brad Pitt figure in all of this? Lust for Jewels?

  • pavel says:

One perv. only! Really? Aw, shucks.

  • tannengrin says:

considering the location & dress code, some salty lyrics can be expected? Is Courtenay Budd related to Billy?

  • LogeLizard says:

Goodness. I remember David Del Tredici appearing shirtless in AFTER DARK magazine circa 1974. If that’s not iconically queer, what is?

I believe I heard Courtenay Budd sing a kick-ass Baby Doe in Pittsburgh about 12 years ago.

Courtenay Budd is a stunning performer and the kindest and gentlest soul you’ll ever meet. I am sure she will give 200% to her performance! Wish I could be there!!!
