Shadow of a doubt

blinds_thumbLa Cieca has no word on this yet, but she is sure that reliable baritone is going to get a lot of stage time at the Met the last few weeks of the season — probably as much as he’s had since the 20th century!

peter, I guess there remain many haunts of the repertoire unknown to me. :-)

  • Arianna a Nasso says:

The fact that Gwynne Howell has been absent for over 20 years, and returns only as a replacement artist, clearly proves that there is no pro-Commonweath bias in casting at the Met. Right, Vicar?

    CruzSF @35.

    I did not know this.

    I do not like this.

I just found out that just by entering my nom de site, which is fairly distinctive by my choice, every word I have ever typed here, every word ever typed about me, and every time I am quoted in other places (at least the ones which give me credit by name) can be accessed by anyone sick enough to want to do such things.

I also find myself infested by an incantation of Trojans.

I think it’s time to disappear or at least demote myself to the rank of lurker. Or are they keeping track of that too?

  • CruzSF says:

Betsy, I hope you’ll reconsider! Where are you getting these Trojans?

  • richard says:

BAB, I would truly hate to see you disappear.

  • richard says:

BAB gets Trojans at the convenience store, where else?

  • Liana says:

Betsy, you can’t do this!!! And anyway, it’s hopeless. Google will find you anywhere, anytime, and punish severely for trying to escape.

if you look at the Artist Roster on the Met web site (About the Met –> Who We Are –> Artists, I think) it has been updated to include Howell and his role assignment

Thanks, and this actually answers a question I’ve had ever since the site was redesigned under Gelb: how to look up a given singer’s appearances in the current season. (The calendar itself used to be searchable by artist but this useful facility was removed, at least as far as I can tell.)

Betsy’s Trojans are her Achilles’ heel.

I always wondered why Trojan is such a popular brand. If you think about it the Greeks got through!
