Very good, QPF, you catch on very quickly. In no time at all, you’ll be able to do the really complex stuff, like — big small cyrillic blue red extended and circus display.
Cieca [#104], could it be that the Met stage will be awash with divas-as-crazed-babes-in-bikinis, a-rompin’ and a-cavortin’ to a sax continuo…?
L.C. What unruly children you have. They keep playing games like HTML codes when you want them to concentrate on YOUR game. I’ll try to be good and guess that, while RF may be fully gowned, the dancers and those of the Chorus who can stand the exposure will look more like the gals at Minsky’s (Of blessed memory. No offence intended.)
Great was to spend a Sunday morning -- thanks for all the Non mi dir clips.
This is the one for me, although I slightly prefer her on the later Mitropoulos recording.
I’m hoping it will involve a giant spider, of the likes found in the Salzburg Finta Giardinieria or maybe Shelob from Lord of the Rings. Each leg can grab a different Rossini tenor. But maybe #121 is on to something, after all the Met does have a saxophonist on call, as we know from Hamlet.
We are constantly engaged here with various opinions of how this or that singer performs /(ed) some aria or in some opera. We may dispute their vocal suitability for the opera attempted, whatever: but how many times do we talk about and gauge their ‘personal artistic commitment and dedication’ to what they attempted. Surely they should be given points one way or another, for ‘application’ If a listener cannot detect the sense of that individual commitment and to what degree, in a performance…appreciation of style, emotion, sheer vocal sound, and musicianship: becomes a passing superficial matter.’Walk on and walk off’ anonymous performances piss me off. Sing to me NOT at me’ as the saying goes.

Thanks you Buster for the Elisabeth Grummer Donna Anna! That was absolutely spectacular, and completely new to me. I didn’t even mind the over-rolling of the r’s, which ordinarily annoys me a tad. What a treat to hear it sung so effortlessly.
