Tout gai!
New York City Opera’s latest mailing invites the gays to “Learn to French!”
For “Boys’ Night at L’Étoile” (Friday, March 26 at 8pm), you and your sister flamers are encouraged to
Join fellow opera queens and cultural gays for a fabulous night of drinks, light fare, incredible entertainment, and French connections. The Juilliard-trained opera singer and drag performer Shequida serves as Mistress of Ceremonies, guaranteed to make you say “ooh la la” as she shows off her five-octave range with opera selections and pop hits.
Her hair was completely dry after that bath.
Great to see Jane in that scene! And I always thought Gilbert Roland was so sexy back then!
Well now, I’d have to say I was ambivalent on this one. On the one hand I admire the cheek of it, and the desire to try new things in order to bring in new audiences; on the other, I’d rather pull my teeth out with my bare hands than go.
The site’s intermission photo looks like a 70s Canadian road company BOYS IN THE BAND, with the Bernard` discreetly off in the bathroom getting his anus bleached by Richard Bonynge.
They should save it for Iphegenie en Tauride.
I can only imagine what they will come up with the first time they stage a Greek opera…
Have an elephant’s memory, I can recall that when that 50′s crappy film The French Line was released, some clown stole the canisters containing the 35mm film, out of a rural cinema. It was considered racy at that time and some church groups even denounced it. We have certainly come a long way in time.
This film will be shown on TCM next week.
Any idea when NYCO is going to announce their 2010-11 season?
This is a very very good question!
They should just play this video on a loop.
I don’t know what to say!
Really??? This is their idea of fabulously gay copy-writing?
Last night I felt badly. I knew, when I posted my comments above, that I was starting this thread off in the gutter. However, I don’t feel so bad anymore, after reading some of the things you people wrote after me.
What’s the line from Maria Stuarda? Oh yes…..
“in te cada il mio rossore!”
