Kukla, Fran and Regie
La Cieca is going to claim doyennical privilege here and say that the correct answers for last week’s Regie quiz are disqualified on grounds of a) silly guess and b) prior knowledge. Otherwise how could she go on with these Regie quizzes, knowing that such wildly unlikely images would immediately shout “Die Meistersinger” to you? Anyway, more “unlikely images” after the jump.

Not an opera but this sure looks like Spam-a-lot.
I’m going to guess St Francis of Assisi, since Kukla, Fran, and Regie could be an allusion to Olivier Messiaen.
REGIE QUIZ HERE TOO: My quess -- Mozart’s OUR TOWN
I’m actually seeing this tomorrow. I’d file a report, if anyone’s interested, but it’s one of those productions where I either am friends with, have worked with, or have met almost the entire cast so I am obviously biased.
Yes, please. I’d like to hear about it since I’ll have to miss this weekend’s performances.
It looks Baroque, so I’m saying Rinaldo.
My guess would be Berlioz’s Bétrice et Bénédict!
There seems to be a play within the play, so it must be Hamlet. But that seems too easy, so it must be Don Quixote!
Hmmm.. the costumes made me think of the Crusades, so I googled Crusades + opera and there are a big bunch! Who knew?
So I narrowed it down to two and flipped a coin. If it turns out to be the other one, I will cry hot tears.
Final answer: Richard Coeur-de-lion by Gretry.
Either Il Turco in Italia or Busoni’s Turandot
It looks like Lohengrin, so it must be Alcina or Armida (the Rossini).
Purcell’s King Arthur?
