Are you really faulting him for entertaining sick children? If he has a background in clowning (which explains a LOT) and he’s obviously not working much elsewhere at the moment, what’s wrong with doing some charity work?

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. One (more) flew over the cuckoos nest.

That long hair has got to go!!! How can he look in the mirror and think that looks good on him?

  • MontyNostry says:

    Really, pagliaccio?

  • Donna Anna says:

As Baritenor points out, this is, at least, in character, both in terms of clowning and the kind of man he is. I’m sure he thrilled a lot of kids. I can’t imagine the pressure he’ll be under next month.
Y felices cumpleanos, o mio Rolando.

La Cieca always makes me aware of how little I know about contempoary culture. Previously I had never heard of Patch Adams:

    Now to cheer us up:

Just got back from Lyric’s Damnation of Faust prima. Thought it was going to be the Met’s production, instead something new and totally contempo and regiedirektor from Stephen Langridge and George Souglides (contemporary references, 1960s costumes, and I swear they made Marguerite look like Sandra Bullock and the Brander looking like Riff-Raff in Rocky Horror). It worked well – controversy with Damantion on stage is not new. Susan Graham and John Relyea fantastic, Paul Groves a little tight on top but remarkable. Andrew Davis had occassional problems coordinating things from the pit and dragged. Performed in two acts (why?). Still in all, rather nice after that shitty Ariadne this afternoon.
