Together again for the first time

odd_coupleWhen La Cieca’s wrong, she’s wrong. She really had no idea until today that Leontyne Price and Luciano Pavarotti shared the operatic stage any time besides that one-off Aida in San Francisco. But when confronted with proof in the form of an mp3, well, she’s going to be the first to admit her error.

Here, for your entertainment and La Cieca’s penance, is the final act of Il trovatore, as performed at the Wiener Staatsoper on May 8, 1977.

Act 4

Leonora: Leontyne Price; Azucena: Christa Ludwig; Manrico: Luciano Pavarotti; Il Conte di Luna: Piero Cappuccilli. Herbert von Karajan, conductor.

Y’all are just toooo smart and clever for words. Thanks for correcting it. I can sleep peacefully tonight knowing that now Wikipedia is 100% error-free.

Sorry, didn’t want to come across as such at all! I wouldn’t presume. I was being sort of serious-ish about the importance of correcting mistakes. Or deliberately planting them. :-D
It’s amazing how many actual journalists do their fact-checking through wiki articles only these days.

When Mr. Guttenberg took the economic affairs office in Germany a year ago, someone snuck in an extra first/eleventh name on Wikipedia (he has ten), and almost all the media took it up… just saying.

Thanks to the staff at Parterre for setting matters straight and cracking down once again on internet misinformation (is there a catchy name for it?). Also thank La Cieca for the great audio clip!!
