So, who’s the Daddy this time?
Perhaps its Opera’s first immaculate conception.
Oh, dear. Now it is become a case of being ‘just a little gas!’.
whew! I was so afraid she would be away from stage for a while and will deprive us her beautiful bel canto singing!
No unemployment compensation for opera stars. The world is sufficiently overpopulated. She should rake in the loot while she’s hot.
She’s not that hot; her husband is though. Wait, different meaning.
Sanford, “husband?” Really?
And why not. They ARE married.
Great, I finally broke down and bought tickets to see her in Boheme with Bezcala in mid March. I’ve been curious as to how she sounds “in the house”. Now she’ll probably cancel and God knows who they will get as her cover.
Netrebko has not lost her postpartum fat around her stomach.
She’s vain enough and sould have taken care of this, otherwise pregnancy rumors will continue.
Olivero, when you want to hear a specific singer and you’re affraid of cancelation, get tickets for the earliest performance possible, opening night is the safest. This has been my experience attending opera for several decades. I saw her in the house singing Juliet, and she sounded good. Of course, her sound is matter of taste. I think she is better Mimi than Lucia. I heard her Mimi, live, on Sirius once, I think in 2007, with Domingo conducting. He was booed, but she prvailed.
Olivero,
I am emphatically not a fan of Trebs, but I just happened to see her in Hoffman, and despite a lot of irritating scenery chewing — why must she hit the floor in every production? — her instrument is genuinely spectacular. Not sure it made a fan of me, and I still don’t want to hear her sing bel canto, but she’s worth making the effort to see live.
Maybe the question should be: why does Trebs (Nebs?) choose roles with juicy floor-rolling opportunities? And since Fleming doesn’t hit the deck very often, does this now make her “old school”?
Speaking of cancellators, I hope we hear Lance Ryan tonight.
Gee, maybe she hit the floor in “Hoffmann” because she is in a weakened state and then dies.
I would agree, however, that too many of our singers are spending too much time on the floor these days—it isn’t just Nebs.
