Luisi is doing a great job

  • Verdilover says:

Luisi is the name to replace Levine, if you ask me.

  • Constantine A. Papas says:

I wished I could hear only the orchestral part. Maybe in the future, digital electronics would allow the listener to choose.

  • kashania says:

I’m a big fan of Luisi. Remeber a couple of years ago when he conducted a warhouse and a rarity at the Met — Turandot and Agyptische Helena? Both were fabulous.

  • rysanekfreak says:

Did I hear correctly?—the soprano who got to sing the broadcast Nabucco Abigaille a few years ago is singing the Overseer in this performance? A tiny bit of a come-down, isn’t it? I am not impressed by Bullock at all. The orchestra does sound good.

  • kashania says:

    I’m rather enjoying Bullock’s performance.

  • actfive says:

Luisi & orchestra: terrific, smooth, filled with nuance.

Ms. Bullock: Squally and wobbly on top notes throughout. Middle voice spread but OK.

Voigt: Somewhat hollow sound but she “gets” this role.

    Palmer: Oh, yeah.

Anyone have the complete cast list?

Whoa there Debbie, bear down, bear down! It’s getting a little spread there on top.

Bullock makes me think of Jane Eaglen, if Jane Eaglen had sung Elektra. Thank Christ she didn’t.

  • Camille says:

    S. Bullock should stop — she coulda been a Chrysothemis but Elektra she ain’t. Sorry.

Well, muscle memory, indeed, is kickin’ in for La Debbie — much less scarey than WTF Marschallin @ Gala last spring.

Methinks Fabuloso Fabio and Felicitous Palmer get the palms in this shoutathon.

The Dance of Dead is almost upon us and we can all say Keiner Gute Naechte and hang this one up. Sleep tight, Alles. oh YEAY Debbarina NAIlED that final B!
