  Did we let Maria Callas’s birthday go by unobserved?

  The Grammy nominations are out. Renee goes head-to-head against Juan Diego Florez in one category. It’ll be his bel canto CD against her verismo CD. Do we want to bet on who wins?

    Renee is also on the YoYo Ma crossover album that’s been nominated. The interesting category to me was best Opera recording, since the only one that could even vaguely be described as a staple of the repertoire is Billy Budd.

  A word of caution: I tried to hook up with the real time chat and was assailed by several viruses on my computer. I’ll stick with the usual format. By the way, as one who waits for the second coming of Jussi how is Joseph doing? First comments are favorable.
