Regie, how I loves ya

regie_11_15_03Smartly done, Kashania, who guessed almost immediately that last week’s Regie quiz represented From the House of the Dead — in a production by Calixto Bieito, by the way.  But even oil drums, truck tires and life-sized airplanes suspended over the stage might look a little prim in contrast to this week’s puzzler:

    ST. FRANCOIS D’ASSISE

There is an undeniable Rheingold feel about it. But Wotan in black face mit der feathers? YES!

  • Zerbinetta says:

I think it’s Rheingold too, but that’s awfully boring to guess at this point.

So I’m going to say Entführung aus dem Serail. That one always gets the Regie treatment.

You’ve gotten them all mixed up.
    Last one was “Lohengrin.”
THIS one is “From the House of the Dead!”

  • spiderman says:

much too easy… everybody in europe knows what a kosky production looks like!

  • rysanekfreak says:

    Rigoletto?

    1. Something happening during the Prelude.

    2. The courtiers getting ready to abduct Gilda.

    3. “Cortigiani, vil razza dannata!”

[redacted]‘s [redacted] at the [redacted] in [redacted]. I didn’t have to guess. I saw it. Super.

[Dear Muse: La Cieca apologizes for redacting you, but the point of this game is to guess what the opera might be. If you already know it, you’re supposed to sit aside and watch others guess.

However, since you did see this production, La Cieca would be very interested if you contributed a review. Just send it to lacieca@parterre.com.

    Schubert’s Die Zwillingsbruder.

  • RDaggle says:

    “La Cenerentola”, right?

pic 1 – a Mezzo among the ashes. (ok, a starved Mezzo)

pic 2 – the Evil stepsisters. (look at them. Evil!)

pic 3 – Prince Charming at the ball.

OMG, I can’t believe I actually got one of these quizzes right!

As for this one, it does scream Rheingold and I agree that it seems too obvious.

And rysanekfreak, I don’t know how your mind works but I love that you can see the black-face-in-feathers picture and think “Cortigani”. LOL
