Okay, La Cieca has just revised her standard for “Gayest Thing Ever.”

Agree the Minnesota opera video is gay. Hmmm, James Valenti does get around , doesn’t he?

Anna looks better in the DG birthday party clip than she has looked since before she got pregnant. Has she lost a few pounds? Her face doesn’t have quite the chipmunky look that she has in most of the videos. She looks a bit more
glamorous in that Cleopatra getup than in some of the other stuff she’s been seen in.

I will always have a very special place in my heart for Anneliese. My mother used to wear her hair exactly like that, and on some days, I do, too.

I love Rothenberger! A fabulous singer all around.

  • kashania says:

I’m with boxnine @#5. Rather than gay, I find it “something else” — not sure what that something else is, mind you. :)

  • messa di voce says:

    Brava, La Cieca!

This maybe your wittiest title since “Bass, You Is My Woman Now.”

Of course I”M NOT GAY, but if you don’t think this video is gay, you need to:

    1. read the article about Rothenberger in the “Boy and His Divas” section in the archive; and

    2. familiarize yourself with the “furry” sub-culture.

I’m such an ill-informed gay man. I remember when someone had explain the term “manscaping” to me on this site a couple of years ago…

  • MontyNostry says:

@ #4 — Fun concept, but a shame the ‘English’ script was clearly written by a Dutch person. “Exclusive by the Netherlands Opera”. That’s the kind of person who confidently announces “Welcome in Amsterdam”. But Amsterdammers rarely think they are wrong about anything.

  • Buster says:

Her decollete is very gay, what a find, thanks.

The Rothenberger appeal for me, lies as much in her propped up campy TV career as in her serious, early one. She is the only Rosalinde I can stand, and my favorite Konstanze.

The gayest clip of hers I know is the one with men in tights that are not tight enough:

My choice for gayest thing ever definitely goes to #29. I can’t even imagine what they’re advertising, but I’ll take the bearded femme in schwarzgelb. He looks frisky.

The best and gayest and funniest Cat Duet EVER was sung by Regine Crespin and Leontyne Price.

As many of you know but DON’T TELL LA CIECA I’m not gay at all, but only posing as one in order to get cheap opera tickets for my friend Bunbury whose doctors tell me he suffers from drama withdrawal. They seem to feel I should be there.
