Seeking scribes
La Cieca is looking for members of the cher public who are planning to see either the HD of Tosca on Saturday or the Rosenkavalier prima on Tuesday, and who are willing to write a reaction/critique. Write to her at lacieca@parterre.com.
[UPDATE: Lots of volunteers for the HD, thanks! La Cieca still wants to hear from Rosenkavalier attendees and would like to hear suggestions for more events (not just here in NY) that need coverage.]
I am planning on attending Saturday here in Indy. I’ll write a critique and if at all possible, I’ll ask members of the audience what their reactions were to include it on the critique.
I’ll be attending Richard Tucker Gala, and Aprile Millo’s recital with the OONY. Just in case you might be interested.
Shucks, I missed out!
I still don’t know if I’ll be able to go to the HD of Tosca this weekend. I might have something else. I noticed that the theater I plan on attending hasn’t sold out yet. If I do decided to go I hope it’s not just me there with two other people.
In November, Indianapolis opera is doing Boheme, I’m planning to attend. Also, in November, I’ll be attending (Hopefully) Ernani in Chicago. If I survive Licitra I’ll let you guys know.
DIDN’T ANYONE GO TO YESTERDAY’S “TOSCA” HD SHOWING…??
I attended along with 800 people, at the Lensic in Santa Fe, enjoyed it, wrote an informal review, sent it to Cieca. Others must also have done; what LaC is doing with them, I don’t know.
Kindling for the fireplace perhaps?
To my great surprise I enjoyed the
production.
Yes I went. For me, the controversy over the production ended up being much ado about nothing. It looked like the kind of opera-on-a-budget production you would see in any small opera company…which is what I’m used to. So it didn’t detract from my enjoyment, but it didn’t necessarily reveal the essential truth of the opera either. My biggest complaint is Acts I was so dimly lit. I did wonder for a moment at the beginning of act II if Mazeppa and Tessie Tura had wandered in from some revival of Gypsy. I though it the final leap effect worked.
