Carry my bust with pride

Is it just me, or is Patricia Racette on the cusp of turning into Aprile Millo?
(Oh, and while we’re on the subject: it certainly took her long enough, but finally The People’s Diva really looks like a diva! Brava, you go on like this!)
What does La Cieca really mean when she asked if Racette was on the cusp of turning into Millo? Vocally or physically? If we are talking about the physique, aren’t we the ones who care more about the voice and constantly complain that the opera companies are casting based on the appearance and not the voice?
Yes, the SF Trittico is the NYCO production. I am going this weekend and cannot wait. I have never seen Racette live. Do folks want to venture an opinion on whether it will be worth a trip from the East Coast to Houston this winter to see her essay Tosca? Or should I go for Dessi in New York, and figure that if Racette’s a success she’ll soon be doing the role on one of our coasts…
Nelly, speaking as an old queen, I will tell you that all my regrets are for things I did not see.
Chere La Cieca, If I enjoy the Trittico in SF as much as I hope to on the basis of the reviews, I will remember your encouragement to redeem those frequent-flyer miles. And of course the men in Texas can be charming, too….
Renee looks stunning. This is a good look for her.
Nelly,
Although I am from the East Coast, I have seen a few productions at the War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco, THEY ARE ALWAYS WELL DONE. If they had the Met’s budget, we opera lovers would all move to the West Coast
