The The met lists Attila being the matinée performance on Sat March 6 2010. Since the broadcasts are in season, I should expect that performance (at least) to be broadcast.

  • flamingopera says:

Well on this site, Attila is not listed to a Saturday matinee broadcast : http://www.operainfo.org/

And on the Sirius Metropolitan Opera Radio website, they only talk about seven new production instead of eight (where is Attila???) : http://www.sirius.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Sirius/Page&c=Channel&cid=1158082416364&s=prog

  • operaguy says:

Re 11: I think you will disappointed. In the season calendar that I received some time ago, they indicated all Sat mat perfs that were being broadcast, and Attila was very clearly NOT marked for broadcast. I assume the reason is Muti – but why are none of the performances he is NOT conducting being broadcast. Is it being saved by the MET as a “goodie” for large contributors?

  • operaguy says:

Why is Gheorghiu still on the roster? And will her Carmen performances represent the first use (at the MET) of those headsets rock musicians use where the microphone is right in front of the mouth?

  • kashania says:

Rosenkavalier, Ariadne, Simon, Aida, Turandot and Armida.

  • CruzSF says:

I must be out of the loop. Will someone please fill us in on why Muti wouldn’t want to be included in a broadcast? Is that something he just never does, or is it particular to Attila?
    Thanks.

  • Lindoro Almaviva says:

Will someone please fill us in on why Muti wouldn’t want to be included in a broadcast?

Well, I for one will not miss that bastard. What he does for Verdi, in my book, is as appalling as some of the shit that is done to opera productions in Europe.

Muti might be a wonderful conductor for Mahler, Wagner, even some Puccini and Mozart, but he has even less talent as a Belcanto conductor than Levine. At least Levine, with all his faults, is capable of collaborating with the people he is conducting. Muti can not listen to anything beyond the sound of his own voice.

  • Lindoro Almaviva says:

let me tell you something bitches, there is something going on, i swear. I just called the met and talked to 2 depts and they have no idea whether there will be a broadcast of Attila. I explained that Sirius already announced the broadcast season and that the slot of 3/6/10 is shown as TBA, and that Attila is on the matinée schedule for that day. When I ask whether it will be broadcast or not all I get are evasive answers…

  • justanothertenor says:

Thank you for the investigation Lindoro…
Shall we all get on the hunt to find out this little secret? Something is going on…

  • Lindoro Almaviva says:

Well, calling Sirius will not help. They are fucking clueless. The guy that I just talked to ket asking me if I wanted the Oprah channel. I kept telling him that I wanted the OPERA channel and his response was: you know you are calling Sirious, right?

Then he asked me if what i wanted was the Oprah channel. That’s when I lost it and said, NO i want the OPERA channel, as in this: VINCEROOOOOOO, VINCEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Yes, het got a high b sung rioght to his ear and THEN he knew what was i talking about. Unfortunately he was just as clueless and unhelful as before.

I bet today will be a day he will not forget for a while.
