Jeez….Miss Kitty Litter ( Hmmmm?)seems very angry, maybe, just MAYBE the average reader of TIme Out is a “child” when it comes to opera. Marybe, JUST MAYBE someone might be tempted to “check it out” just because someone compared Beyonce to Laureetta or Katy Perry to Ophelie. We get it… you’re an Afficionado… so why are YOU reading Time Out?

I read both pf them. I have a 1st edition 1sr printing of the 1st one. (the one where she appeared in pubic)

I didn’t have too much of a problem with it, I knew some of it was overblown, but Sills was never shy about publicity hogging.

That was a nice creative piece of writing. It must have been difficult to find parallels between pop and opera. Although sometimes they come off as a bit forced, they were good. I don’t think this will convince anyone into pop to attend an opera though…sadly.

Okay, really, this is my last post on the subject, but are you people completely mad? This is TIME OUT NEW YORK–a publication that is nothing more than listings punctuated by heavy advertising. That anyone would complain about the quality of its articles seems willfully insane.

Just more of the life-style shit that today’s newspapers and magazines throw out like projected vomit for the bored. Saves on good journalism and research; aroma therapy ,gourmet (stuffing up food) cooking, latest ‘How to..books, travel, inexplicable Art, social gossip columns and ‘beautiful people’ chatter. This is just “Well, have you tried the opera, for a change?”

Madonna could maybe just about manage to pipe out the shepherd boy’s notes, with the help of some havey miking. Or she could try the jailer (like Itzhak Perlman did in the Scotto/Levine recording, if I’m not mistaken).

You have to admit it’s a happy thing that opera is chic enough to get a featurette in minimal-attention-span Time Out. I’d actually heard of one or two of the pop singers mentioned. Doesn’t Madonna have a bit part in Tosca already?
