Reformed twink turned Verdi impersonator Rufus Wainwright has joined the ranks of Koch fanciers who will perform at the American Voices concert relaunching the NYCO on November 5. The Roofster will play and sing, yes, that song again, ”Les feux d’artifice” from Prima Donna, providing respite from NYCO singers present and past including Samuel Ramey, Lauren Flanigan, Amy Burton, Joyce Castle, Anna Christy, Joyce DiDonato, Anthony Dean Griffey and Measha Brueggergosman. do you guys heat hints of Phillip Glass on that piano?

I’ll give the guy this: her is a true opera fan. That is rare for people his age and let’s hope that his interest will spark an interest among his fans.

As for the composition, well, his fans will love it.

Wait for it…….I think I know where Rufus Wainkright first got the brainwave inspiration for this droning crap he created to inflict upon the World.
He was playing with himself in the shower and thought he was Barbra Streisand attempting Plasir d’ Amour from her Classical Barbara album. Reaching a orgasam that day was difficult….and so on & on he wanked!

Don’t you just love the way he acted ,announcing that excruciating performance of the final scene to his opera Talk about body language. Wainkright saying “I wrote a operaaaahhh …a song…ahhh…. it is an aria…..” as he nervously wets himself, plays with his hair and fiddles about. Reminds one, of Meryl Steep as a diplomat’s wife,in the film Plenty, entertaing diplomatic corp.
In that superb impression Steep gave, doing the very exact same things -showing her ‘character’ betraying herself -completely out of her mental depths.
HE is SO SO excited about himself! Wankers generally are.

So who is the Italian diva destined to be general director of an Italian Opera Company?

I have always found RW to be intriguing. His vocal production is vulgar and crude but again at times even that has its’ charms. I find much of his music interesting and provocative. Some of it daring and some drivel but mostly personal and intense. I agree that i don’t think he will be a huge draw to the NYCO gala but he will make it a more high profile event. With the short, somewhat uninspired season, I think he is trying to help a company that may not last the year.
