This is an event, and let’s go beyond the cover. Countertenors with their tedious, monochromatic and faked head voice do no justice to castrati. Cecilia will! Anatomically, physiologically, vocally and phonetically a mezzo’s voice is the closet’s to a castrato’s. The vocal cords of a countertenor look like the cords of any growm man gay or straight unless there is testosterone deficiency, or by a default of nature a man’s vocal cords remain hypoplastic-short and thin- the size of a mezzo’s.
I forgot to mention that there is a scar between the breasts on the breastbone (sternum). This bone is cut to access the heart for open heart surgery, and postop the pain and recovery are very painful. Maybe this is symbolic of the physical pain and psychological suffering castrati went through to entertain the privileged ot the time!
Lucretius (#10), take a look at the fabulous webiste vinyldivas.com
As a beauty I’m not a great star
There are others more handsome by far
But my face I don’t mind it
For I am behind it
Tis the people in front get the jar.
@34 Nice to see Myles quoted here…
Re the jawline…not so much photoshopped as photomalled….
Decca’s art department was always bargain basement. But this!
Nice vag!
Although this must be one of la Cieca’s visual jokes, I LOVE THE COVER. LOLOL
Bartoli should be so lucky! I’d hate to see her real body!
Perhaps they thought it was cool to use a battered representation of Michaelangelo’s David minus ‘his dick’.(Castrato!)
And then there’s that title. I know what the little boys had to sacrifice, but what was it exactly that Cecilia sacrificed?
