    Constantine A. Papas says:

If Sumac had formal training, she could have been the best coloratura ever,at all ranges- soprano, mezzo or contralto. It’ll be a long time-maybe generations- before a voice like her come along. YS’ voice was a freak of nature in the most positve way.

God!Yma Sumac sent thrills through me as a kid, just looking at those contrived Capitol record covers of hers. This supposed mysterious ‘jungle princess’ that could sing the stratosphere yet also appeared to be all knowing of all humans’ hidden desires…..which I wanted to find out about and explore too (naturally!)
