La Cieca hears that Renée Fleming is going to be a Mastersinger. In related news, veteran “marker” Sixtus Beckmesser has announced his retirement.

Elsewhere, Susan Graham and Thomas Hampson will be hosts of the fifth annual F. Paul Driscoll Awards for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence. The November 19 festivities will be held at Gotham Hall. Chairing the committee will be wealthy philanthropist Bruce Wayne. [NYT]

If I were Renee’s publicist, I would be getting concerned. This post is 24 hours old, and there has not been a general Renee discussion (pro/con/whatever).

Toutes les flemingos are at the beach??

  • La Cieca says:

Well, tannengrin, it stands to reason. The public beaches are all open now.

  • Krunoslav says:

Actually, you’ve got it wrong, Cieca.

The Beautiful Voice — opera’s greatest actress, lest we forget– has been drafted as a Swingle Singer.
