Congratulations to Stephen Llewellyn, grand prize winner of The Omniscient Mussel‘s #operaplot competition, as adjudicated by Danielle De Niese.

Stephen’s plot synopsis read:

There was a young lady called Fricka Who…who…*snore* “Wake up – it’s over.” It’s good, I just wish it were quicka.

La Cieca is particularly impressed with Stephen’s brevity: in fact, at under 140 characters, his synopsis of the Ring is even shorter that Our Own JJ‘s review.

  • My favorite was still from the last one. A synopsis of Sonnambula from @ogiovetti:

    “She’s a slut? No! She’s a sleepwalker!”

  • williams says:

[thanks - La Cieca's moving this one to the top of the page!]

I didn’t like this one much at all – I’ve seen lots better

    PTTHHHHH!!!

  • leboyfriend says:

squirrel, so have I. I was amazed that one won! I even submitted entries about Dr Atomic and Don Giovanni which were much funnier and cleverer.

  • Leper Ello says:

    My favorite -

Dialogues of the Carmelites: “And then there were nun.”

  • leboyfriend says:

I wasn’t gonna say anything but just wait for the torent of abuse about how the winning entry sucks but I think I had better own up. I was the winner. I do agree with you though. I can’t see how it won. And yes, Leper Ello, I loved that one too. I have been telling it to all my chums.

But if it makes you all feel a bit better I am donating the prize – two box seats to Washington National Opera + two tickets to the Opera Ball, to a D.C. inner-city music teacher, together with cash to cover incidental expenses (baby-sitter, taxis, champagne – just the essentials).
