it’s a gay gay gay gay gay world

Out Assemblyman Daniel O’Donnell, profiled in today’s NYT for his friendly arm-twisting tactics in support of New York’s bill to legalize same-sex marriage, is not only the brother of Rosie O’Donnell, but also the partner of John Banta, who has probably the most festive title of anyone who doesn’t work directly with Issac Mizrahi. Banta is Director of Special Events for the Metropolitan Opera.

New York’s Legislature is expected to take up the marriage equality bill today.

It must drive La Cieca to the brink of madness to witness time and time again thread hijacking of this sort.

Norman Lebrecht, eh? Must have been some serious itch.

  • Turandot says:

Is Daniel O’Donnell as mssculine as his sister? One can only imagine the horrors that must be family holidays in that butt-ugly family.

Then again, maybe he’s not as much of a c*** as she is.

  • just asking... says:

Leave it to the Ice-Princess to find something negative and un-called-for smarmy about the O’Donnell duo..BTW–Daniel has done a yeoman’s amount of work in support of Gay-rights Civil rights legislation, and AIDS funding, Turandot…so who the FUCK CARES what he looks like (he is a hot bear.., though)

Rosie has done her own fair share of “good-deeds”–so calling her what you did is pretty creepy, as well

  • Alex Degracia says:

“just asking”, I agree…I definitely think that Assemblyman O’Donnell is a hot man! Too bad he’s in a relationship… ;)

Mr. Lebrecht says that Rob Alagna was discovered in a Paris pizza bar. Was he singing or flipping dough or slurpping a soda like Lana Turner at Schwabs? What’s the true story?

  • Harry says:

tamburini (16#): I hope when Rubber Lasagna was not picked up like legend has it for Lana Turner :’as the tight sweater girl with tits’.If he was working, he was probably already practicing his huffy opera house departures like at La Scala……by storming out the back of the bar after burning his fingers on hot pizza , or spilling the coffee.

Miss Kitty Litter (11#) I do not see La Cieca getting too cross at a few comment sidetracks as long as contributors do not become offensive to each other in the process. A little ‘byway’ comment ot two, during these discussions add interest, spice or can turn up a little known fact which others readers investigate. As well it allows La Cieca to see any trends of thought forming, aiding her in judging what her next lot of interesting discussion subjects she should put forward to her readers.

Sadly, Lebrecht has made a career out of talking bollocks and wilfully (one presumes – he can’t be that stupid) twisting the truth. Also sadly, his reference to Gobbi as a tenor is not (no longer?) on his webpage. Maybe he is a Parterre habitue and tweaked his text once he had been found out on here.
