Riesenregie

Mrs. John Claggart saw through the balloonery of our most recent Regie quiz, correctly identifying not only the opera Werther but each scene depicted. So, cher public, let’s see how you do with this week’s conundrum.

    “The Sound of Mucus?”

  • Regina delle fate says:

Kashania – it IS fabulous! A dazzling spectacle, if nothing else.

  • Sanford says:

I like The Sound of Mucus. I laughed so hard I had an opera coming out of my nose

  • La marquise de Merteuil says:

Don Giovanni is my only guess

    1. Maybe Act 1 escaping from Anna’s room.

    2. Ottavio and Anna discovering the Commendatore’s corpse Act 1

    3. Donna Elvira sneaking into the Banquet scene Act 2

  • jim says:

    Mahagonny?

  • Leper Ello says:

La Boheme, as seen from the upper right quadrant of Mimi’s left lung.

  • Olivia says:

    Carmen:

    1. Chanson du Toreador (is that a giant schwang in the lower l.h. corner?)
    2. Carmen sees death-literally this time.
    3. Micaela trekking through the mountains to the camp.

  • Olivia says:

Although Risen makes me think of Vienna…ferris wheel…wheel of fortune…vicious circle…something with Mozart…Cosi?

Since the word is out that Barbara Frittoli has walked from an Aida that she denounced as being too Regie, let’s guess that these pictures are from that Aida.

    1. Radames sings Celeste Aida.
    2. The March from the Triumphal Scene.
    3. Amneris during the Judgment Scene.

I’ve already guessed so this can’t win the imaginary prize. But is it some kind of Orfeo? (I’ve only just noticed the women looking at the skeleton are dead themselves – you can see their muscles). By the way is di-donc (44) right – is Regieoper only the “willfull distortion” of a pre-1920 work? I reckon Regie’s a state of mind.
