A witty YouTube ad from Dallas Opera, who seem to be doing just fine.

Speaking of Renee in Maine, you may want to take a gander at who’s baton will be wagging that night. Maestro Robert Moody, a friend of mine and certified My-oh-Maestro

    whoops, I meant “whose baton”

don’t hold the fact that his site has Renee F-L-E-M-M-I-N-G against him :)

I braved freezing rainstorms and drove up to Dallas Opera a couple of weeks ago to hear Stephen Costello sing Roberto Devereux. It’s a dog of an opera and a snoozy production, but Stephen still gets me right *here* He has gained a few pounds. I blame his new wife. Stephen: dump her now before it’s too late! Call me. Who does your eyebrows?

Did you catch the Dallas Opera video of him interviewing the RD cast? He’s a toucher. Can hosting a Met HD broadcast be far behind? (hint, hint, you fucking genius)

If that photo is from Romeo and Juliet with Ellie Dehn, I saw the production – the nightshirt was a little short.

I saw Valenti yesterday in the opening night performance. One word describes his performance: underwhelming. I’ll be upfront and say that I’ve never heard him live before, so maybe he’s better at other times.. but really, the “conservatory” student description applies. The voice isn’t really that big, he’s not a very good actor, the list goes on. He’s fine, even good on occasion, but not great, no where near it. nothing exciting about his voice at all. I can’t imagine how on earth he’ll be heard at the Met next season… I was in row M and could barely hear him. They put a hilarious wig on Dwayne Croft, too..
