The genre-defying art of Florence Foster Jenkins is reborn in her namesake, Katherine.

This is the best bad opera performance on Youtube. I can’t even begin to describe it. Please just see for yourself. I laugh everytime!

Thanks for the link, operachick. Nikita, whoever she is, made me wet my knickers laughing. It’s an abortion, of course, but when I think of some of the DULL DULL DULL Traviatas I’ve sat through, I’d almost rather see some nonsense like this trotted out on the stage. Boring it isn’t.
Not QUITE as bad as Suzan Alexander Kane’s version of the aria, but DAM close. Yoiks.
As awful as Ivosevic is, at least there is a purpose behind what he does, although to paraphrase Addison DeWitt, it is an idiotic one, but there is a purpose. However, nobody has done opera-disco like Besson in “The Fifth Element.”
Sorry, there is a purpose behind what she does, even if that “Sempre libera” makes your throat hurt. She is Mary Lynn’s daughter.
Yes, she is Mari-Lyn’s long lost daughter, and she’s working in a strip joint in Las Vegas?
That was frickin’ unbelievable! Thanks, operachick.
Dubist D,
You’re entitled to your opinion; but Netrebko is a real opera singer; and her Salzburg and London Violettas will be hard to beat, as they have been universally acclaimed by the majority of fans and critics.
What’s with the far-back, throaty, glottal vocal production? She sounds a lot like a first-year college voice student who is trying to manufacture a “big” sound.
WindyCityOperaman, 1st years would be so lucky to have a sound like Trebs. Nevermind the squillions in fees that come with it. Just saying.
