why do you think they call me “master?”

The scene: a university voice studio’s master class. The guest: Carol Vaness.  The diva/pedagogue opines that a young singer is “pressing on the sound.”

Y.S.: [thinks for a moment] You know, you’re right!

C.V.: [unsmiling] Of course I’m right. I’m famous.

“The Vicar” you must be preaching Field and Roocroft in your Bellskem parish. Agree that Field is interesting, but Amanda seems semi retired at age of 40-45? But enjoy yoursef anyway.

Roocroft has a lot to offer. She can be a very special performer, and has given some of the most touching performances I have seen.

Hello Vickar, thank you for posting Amanda’s last gigs. She is a terrific artist, no question abbout it, but even those gigs are not anymore what she used to have and can be called a more local or a bit provincial employments (no offense intended). Not as she used to be in Munich, Vienna etc where she was “a sort of” replaced by Pieczonka in the last few years. But comparing her career to Vaness is like comparing a gemstone and a diamond (both pretty in the beholders eye, but quite a different in the class of quality and price).

Dearest fans….There are so many operas that require so many different things….mostly differences in taste. how boring it would be to simply stay in Mozart or Strauss or Puccini or boxed like a “doll” into a place you are never allowed to leave. only because the world of “opera” has decided that chocolate is the flavor of the day or carmel apples the only dessert. I think all those sopranos should be allowed to enjoy in private peace the music they are offered to sing. ( most sopranos are wonderful people regardless of what can and is printed about them Those who like it, great and those who don’t, well great too! Chacun a son gout! Life is TOO SHORT to keep your heart and voice from going where it wishes to go.
AS for who those ladies decide to enjoy themselves physically…well…I say the more the merrier and if married, then blessings for them too! If one has not actually walked in the shoes of the soprano and felt the loneliness of being month after month in places where you are not even sure if you are liked or loved because of what you do….well, try it and see if it leads you to places that give people who have no lives something to write about.

Having the “sinside” scoop is not actually living the scoop. ANd I will admit the scoop is a lot of fun especially with some of these gorgeous men…..why should we not have the pleasure from them as they have for so long from US? I say brava to the Carmen’s who give Delilah a try and a BIG brava to any singer with the strength and ability to love such a difficult career so much that they give their all. This is quite a fun and interesting place to comment….hilarious really. Diamonds and jewelry will not ever replace the feeling in our hearts when someone from an audience says, “thank you, you changed my life”. This is why, SO i have heard, the great singers do it. SIng that is. good luck to you all.

oh by the way, he “flavor” of the day is watermelon…..ha ha.

    Tomorrow Chocolate again!!!!!
